Comenius „The Heritage of Cultues and Traditions in Pluralistic Society – Religious Traditions”

Visit in Poland As the part of the many partnership visits, organised thanks to the program "Comenius", young people from European countries had the opportunity to visit our school in Poland. The visit in our country took place in On the first day partners were officially welcomed by representatives of the II High School in Tarnów: The Main Coordinator of the Project – Ms Marta Rodo, vice headmaster – Ms Beata Klimkiewicz-Świder, representative of board of education – Ms Urszula Blicharz, teachers and students from our school., During the workshop, titled „John Paul II, Man of intercultural dialogue” the participants presented their own homelands, regions and schools. As a result, they were able to get to know different cultures and traditions from many countries in the world. During the next three days, Polish students were showing to partners the beauty of our homeland. 17 of October: teachers and students from all the countries participating in the project went on a trip to Auschwitz Death Camp. All visitors were touched by seeing the enormity of the crimes of Hitler. After that the whole group went on a tour to the Basilica in Łagiewniki, a place which was very important for John Paul II. There was a lecture in English. On the next Day, after participating the cultural workshop in school, guests were invited to explore Tarnów. The main point of this trip was to visit the city centre. The project participants had the opportunity to see Tarnów's Market Square, walk the historic streets and learn a little about the Jewish history of the city. During the last day of the partnership visit, took place a trip to Krakow – The City of Kings. Also there the partners, had the oportunity saw some beautiful monuments. The program was focused around Kraków's old Town with Market Square and Wawel Castle. Unfortunately, after this interesting day, came the time for saying goodbye. It is worth to mention that students participating in the project have the unique opportunity to learn a lot about many different nationalities. It’s sure that no one will forget such eperience as Comenius

Connection of John Paul II with Krakow

Cracow is closely connected with John Paul II. The Pope treated this place as his second ‘little homeland’. It’s here that everything began for the Polish Pope-studying Polish philology and then working as a priest. Befor he became the carinal, he was Cocow’s bishop Karol Wojtyła once said: „Cracow is one of the cities that are the dearest and closest to my heart”.

The itineraries of John Paul II’s pilgrimages always uncluded Cracow. The Błonia and the Łagiewniki were the biggest places of meeting with the Pope. Each of the pilgrimages was held under different banner, whose role was to familiarise the pilgrims with the word of God. Dialogue with young peple was very important for him. Hi used to say to youth: „You are the future of our church, you are my hope”

Students on Comenius

Justyna Iskrzak Comenius was a once-in-a- lifetime experience for me. During the project I got to know new people and made lifelong friendships. Spending time with Comenius partners made me realize that although we are different in some aspects, we can still make a great team. Comenius was an unforgettable experience which I will keep in my heart.

Agnieszka Ochał The Comenius Programme was a great experience for me, entirely different than the ordinary trip. Project gives young people opportunity to expand their language skills, get to know interesting people from different countries, alike their culture, history, customs and tradition. The Comenius Programme is first of all a great fun, a way to break all barriers and shyness, and also the source of wonderful memories. I think it’s worth taking such actions

Michalina Pająk Comenius is one of the most unforgettable experiences of my life. I have learnt a lot about the idea of tolerance despite the race, origin or relgion and met people, who until today are an insporation for me. I am really gratefull that I was a part of this project and contributed to the inter-cultural dialogue. I hope that friendships I have made during this incredible journey will last for a really long time.

Mikołaj Kłos Work in the project was an unforgettable experience for me, as it gave me a unique possibility of learning new cultures and meeting inspiring people. At the same time it was a perfect occasion to test my abilities. While preparing for the visit of foreign guests, as well as while visiting other countries, we found out how indispensable is intercultural dialogue. It becomes possible only when we understand that despite the differences between us, we all have the same dreams and desires and that we all care about building mutual future.

Krzysztof Kuboń I have a great pleasure to participate In Comenius Project. For me it is unforgettable experience which happens once-in-life time. Thanks to this Project I realised that although we come from differnt parts of Europe, we have diffrent culture, religion, we have a lot in common. Taking part In it was also a grate chance to New, wonderful friends and to try out languages I know. I am grateful for all I got from Comenius.
