The following adverts were produced by either pro life or pro choice American Christian organisations. What images do they use and why? What type of advertising is it? What do they tell you about the Christian attitude to abortion?

‘People should never be allowed an abortion’ What do you think? Explain your opinion. 3 marks

In my opinion I think a woman should be allowed the right to chose whether she has an abortion as it is her body. Another reason I agree is because we do not know how she became pregnant, if for example this was because of rape, she might never love the baby and therefore should be allowed to abort it as it would be the more loving thing for the baby. However, Christians would disagree because life is a gift from God and therefore it is scared so we must always protect the sanctity of life and never have an abortion.

Come up with a list of practical ways pro- life and pro- choice supporters would put their beliefs into action.

Homework Find out who SPUC are, what they do and explain why you think some Christians would support the work of SPUC.
