1 Older people who feel that they are a burden on other people may decide to opt for euthanasia
2 Even a very ill person may sometimes recover, but this could not happen if we allowed euthanasia
3 It goes against religious teachings on the sanctity of life
4 People may stop trusting doctors if they think that doctors sometimes end life
5 If we allow some people to have euthanasia it may lead to a slippery slope where older people or disabled people are encouraged or are forced to have euthanasia such as in Hitler’s Germany. This would be called involuntary euthanasia

Muslims believe that human life is sacred and should not be taken.
There is a story (taken from hadith) which Muhammad is supposed to
have told about a man who was wounded and was suffering so much
that he took a knife and cut his wrist so that he bled to death.
Muhammad said that when Allah saw what had happened he said "my
slave hurried in the matter of his life therefore he is deprived of the
garden". This makes it clear that for Muslims euthanasia is not allowed.
Muslims believe that this life including all the suffering is a test and if we
try to avoid the test by taking our lives we cannot possibly pass the test.
The Qur'an mentions Job as a good example of a man who suffered but
who still worshipped God.
