Cliquez pour modifier le style du titre 43 RD ASECAP STUDY & INFORMATION DAYS Investing in the future mobility across Europe : building, managing and connecting motorways with other transport modes Public transport on motorways for commuters André BROTO, Deputy Executive Director of Vinci Autoroutes, France 28 May 2015

The “Bus Express Line” model outside of the urban area of Paris  A : Some small towns at about 50 km of the city  B : A mass rapid transit station (metro RER)  AB : a bus express line of 30 km on the A10 motorway

A BEX (bus express line) on the A10 motorwaty connected to a RER station 33 km only 4 stops No dedicated lane on the highway 1 bus every 5 mn in the peak hour 2800 passengers per day Trip purposes 80% commuters 20% studies Savings per commuter 2*33*240 = km/year 1000 l gas or 1400 €/year 170 gCO2 / 40 g soit 2 tons CO2 / year 3

A10 BEX line : the intermediate stop at the entrance of the motorway

A10 BEX line : The intermediate stop on the A10 motorway 5

The intermediate stop : General layout 6

7 Madrid : 180 bus lines on 7 radial motorways connected to intermodal stations (metro + bus) In average 2500 buses or people on each motorway per day

8 Madrid, the « la Moncloa » intermodal station

Focus on people perspective, not on vehicle perspective  From monomodal to multimodal perspective  Interchange Bus Station in Madrid  From working in a silo to working with other transportation authorities  Planning coordination between road and rail networks

Looking for efficiency From technical focus to integrated perspectives Coordination between public and private transport, From technical innovation to system innovation From building new infrastructure to improving the use of existing infrastructures (priority in old cities) From focusing on need to fund - to focusing on benefits of funding
