Welcome! To Your Library

Library Staff MRS. ROMERO All library staff are to be treated with respect and good manners, including student aides.

Library Hours  Monday – Friday: 7:15-3:15pm  You can only come in at lunch if you get a pass in ADVANCE from Mrs. Romero  Last day before a vacation: i.e. Wed. before Thanksgiving 7:15-As soon as we can shut down!  Exceptions: Early release, Finals, Meetings, Absence

Anytime You Come... Find the Sign-In sheet at the front counter and sign in. Show planners or leave passes at the front counter.

Check Out All students and staff have check out rights. Students can have up to 3 books, not counting Reading Kit books. Please bring your student ID badge for a 1 st time checkout AND the book you are renewing for an additional checkout. On most books, the checkout period is two weeks.

What Can You Find in the Library??? Fiction: literary works that are NOT true; not factual Non-Fiction: literary works that ARE true; factual Periodicals: magazines Reference Materials: Encyclopedias, Atlases, Reader’s Guide to Periodical Literature, and MUCH MORE!

PLEASE be considerate of your library staff when browsing the shelves!!!!! If you pull a book and don’t want it, put it back in the same spot with the spine out and the spine label at the bottom so it can be easily recognized. If you can’t remember where it was, bring it to the counter and ask a staff member to re-shelve it! Treat library books with care and they will last better! FIC GAR

Areas continued: Computers: These are available for student use. Be sure to come to the circulation desk to check out the computer you want to use and follow the posted rules! *You may print on the library’s laser printer AS LONG AS IT IS SCHOOL RELATED! *If it is NOT school related, you will charged 10 cents per page. *If you are doing research or need to copy a song for choir, etc.—you can ask a member of the library staff to copy for you. The cost of xerox copies is 10 cents per page. Printing:

In order to keep your computer privileges, you must obey the school rules regarding computer usage! Follow the posted bans, please.

Fines and Behaviors Overdue fines are 5 cents a day per book. The first 3 days are a grace period. On the 4 th day you will owe $.20 per book. NO fine for any one book will go over $1.00. Appropriate behavior is required. Keep your hands, etc. to yourself. Verbally abusive language is not acceptable. No food or drinks are allowed except bottled water. Libraries and liquids do not mix! Keep all water bottles closed. Your presence in the library is a privilege, not a right. You will be invited out for misbehavior!

Computer Labs There are three student computer labs located in the main building of SHS— Lab 111, Lab 209, and Lab 210. Always logon and SAVE to your Google Docs! PLEASE... take care of our labs—shut computers completely down before you leave and CLEAN UP YOUR WORK AREA.

How to use the OPAC On-line Public Access Catalog In the library or lab 111 there is an OPAC icon on the desktop. Just double-click on it. From any other computer in the school, double-click on STUDENT SOFTWARE. Then double-click on the folder that says OPAC. Finally, click on SHS OPAC and this screen will come up. Type in the title of a book, an author, or a subject you want to look up. Then click on the appropriate button.

OPAC continued: You can use “My Info” to see what you have checked out, when things are due, if you have fines, or anything else you need to know about your account. Your ID # Your Last Name When finished, be sure to Log Out
