Welcome Parents!  This is your student’s homeroom – Students are required read for ten minutes in here every day, so please help ensure that they have a book to read.  Please sign up for the Remind homeroom list. This is different than the class list. Directions are to the right.

Important Dates:  Picture Day – August 25 th There is a green screen. Flyers go home tomorrow.  Washington DC trip information meeting 9/7 at 7 pm in the Hightower Theater.  Cobb County Magnet Schools informational meeting 9/14 at 9 am at Hightower in the 8 th grade commons.  Pope High School informational meeting 10/12 at 6:30 pm in the Pope Theater.

Important Information:  We are preparing your children for high school and the independence that comes with that. We are teaching students that failure isn’t the end of the world and is an absolute necessity if you are going to accomplish something new.  Don’t text your child during school hours. If it’s an emergency, please call the front office.  If your child texts you during the school day, ask if they have permission. They will get their phone taken away for improper use.  HS placement occurs after the first semester, so encourage your child to do their best this first term. We will have no information about high school placement at conference week. High school doesn’t give us the criteria until January.

Please pick up green paper

Homework  Hightower has a school policy that homework is not allowed to be turned in late. If a student doesn’t have it on the day it is due, it is a zero.  Homework for HS math is due on test day.  Please encourage them to check the blog.

Where do I find what the assignments were if my child was absent or forgot to write them down?  Blog – copies of most items, notes and answer keys are located here  Bright green agenda that I print for each unit Unit 1 AgendaUnit 1 Agenda  Child can pick up copies in green folders next to door

Blog  My blog is updated nightly. Use the blog to empower yourself to tell your kids the following: “Yes, you do have homework; I can see it right here on the blog!”  The blogs is much more than just a list of homework assignments. It contains notes and helpful websites also!
