LANGUAGE ARTS – I look forward to seeing the titles of the books that the students read for the March Home Reading Calendar. This month I am sending home a “READINGO” card with each student for Home Reading. In order to give the students a chance to explore and complete the different types of reading material suggested on the Bingo Card, I am asking them to return it on Wednesday, June 1 st for a reading prize. We are going to continue working on our reading comprehension strategies and writing this month. Thank you for your continued support at home with our weekly spelling and Home Journal. Mrs. Prenoslo MATH –We will be completing our unit on Fractions within the next few weeks and be turning our attention to our next unit on Geometry. In this unit, the students will be able to name and sort polygons as well as describe objects by the shape of faces and by the number of faces, edges and vertices. Please continue to access the online app Mathletics at at home. SCIENCE – To finish our unit on Hearing and Sound this month, the students will be doing a Poster Project on; “How We Can Protect our Hearing” and preparing for a final unit test. We will then begin our next unit, “Animal Life Cycles” where the students will be studying the life cycles of different animals. Teacher’s Pet will be here May 2 nd for an in school field trip. SOCIAL STUDIES- The students will continue our studies about how communities work together. They will have the opportunity to visit council chambers on April 8th and learn how decisions are made in our own community. Closer to the end of April we will move on to our third unit, “Land and Resources.” We will learn how each of the four countries we are studying in relation to Canada, manages its’ natural resources and takes care of the environment. RELIGION – We have entered into the liturgical season of Easter where we will celebrate the greatest events of our faith; the story of the gift of the Spirit at Easter. HEALTH – For April we will continue with The “Zones of Regulation” and then turn our focus to Pedestrian Safety and Personal Safety (in vehicles and using bicycles). Physical Education – The students really enjoyed learning about baseball with our presenter from “When Baseball Comes To School”. We will be heading outside to put into practice what we learned but first we will continue to develop our basketball skills for the month of April. Art – Our focus in April will be on Easter and Spring as well as our art gallery project during our field trip on April. Thanks you once again for your continued support.
