 November 2013 – Feedback solicited at Governing Board Conference  December 2013 – THECB  Discusses approaches to developing next plan  Discusses Council's WAVE and feedback from Governing Board Conference  January THECB Decides on Planning Approach  February 2014 – First meeting of the Committee for Beyond Closing the Gaps  Oct 2014 – May 2015 – Feedback solicited for early draft and subsequent revisions  July 2015 – THECB adopts next long-range plan for Texas higher education THECB 10/2013

Creates Texas 2036 Commission to identify future higher education and workforce needs in Texas and make related recommendations to address those needs by the state's bicentennial in THECB 10/2013

HB 2036 Goals (Section 490F.006) Beyond Closing the Gaps Goals (Draft) (A) Attain a workforce in which at least 60% hold a postsecondary credential (Overall) At least 60% of Texans will have a postsecondary credential (B) Increase by at least three the number of institutions designated as research institutions (C) Ensure the alignment of workforce development with higher education (W) Improve the percentage of graduates employed or enrolled in relevant fields within 6 months THECB 10/2013

HB 2036 Goals (Section 490F.006) Beyond Closing the Gaps Goals (Draft) (D) Increase college-attending population to a level comparable to the best performing states (A) Increase proportion of 8th- graders who complete a certificate or degree within 11 years (E) Improve affordability of higher education while maintaining excellence (V) Increase percentage of degrees & certificates earned within 100% time (F) Ensure global competitiveness of the state workforce (E) Ensure 100% of students demonstrate competence in their field THECB 10/2013
