Presentation transcript:

ENRICH Kick Off Meeting 1 High level objectives ● Is there a common conceptual model for ms description? ● If so, we can provide a TEI P5-conformant representation of it ● and define interfaces between it and existing ms descriptions – static (centrally stored records) – dynamic (harvested records) ● If not, we will have problems! WP2 should decide this question...

ENRICH Kick Off Meeting 2 WP3 Deliverables ● A TEI conformant ODD specification – RelaxNG schema and DTD – multilingual documentation ● (Czech, English, French, German) ● Migration tools – from a variety of formats (to be determined) ● Validation and data entry tools – tools and training materials ● Reports

ENRICH Kick Off Meeting 3 TEI and I18N ● TEI work on internationalization ● TEI already working/partly complete on: French, Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese, and Italian ● TEI minimal I18N targets are translations of element descriptions, and interfaces

ENRICH Kick Off Meeting 4 Source formats ● TEI P4 ● Master ● TXT ● Dublin Core ● Unimarc ● XML CEI ● Marc21 ● “internal format” ● OAI ENRICH XML

ENRICH Kick Off Meeting 5 Strategies for conversion (e.g.) Unimarc Master ENRICH XML Export/convert OAI Harvest/convert

ENRICH Kick Off Meeting 6 Strategies for management Images Metadata Transcript s METS Containerization

ENRICH Kick Off Meeting 7 Next six months plan ● Collect together and review current practice ● Survey proposed requirements ● Survey range and quality of existing records ● Draft initial ODD ● Determine documentation translation requirements and framework

ENRICH Kick Off Meeting 8 WP3 reports ● METS evaluation – reports on best practice and interoperability ● Unicode evaluation – report and catalogue of specialised glyphs

ENRICH Kick Off Meeting 9 What we need from you ● Description of current practice – Tell us what you have and how you use it ● Sample records – Examples of typical and borderline cases ● Validation and commentary on drafts – Comment early and often on revisions
