3 Main Menu 2 Assignment Think about what makes a new programme work Brief bits of news Quick action Weather and Sports Range of Images and Videos Voice overs and Anchor people Task 1: Importing the Video Elements For this day you will practice using pre-supplied materials making a Video production 1.By the end of the day you should make a five minute news video 2.It needs to be saved so it can be shown during PD 3.It needs to have a range of Images, Sounds, Videos and Animated Logos. 4.It needs to be about todays news so no Internet materials 5.In needs to be topical and interesting. Step 1 Everything you need today will be in the DLD Day – Friday Folder on the P: Drive in ICT. You will not need to copy it, everything can be used within Movie Maker from here.

3 Main Menu 2 Assignment Think about what makes a new programme work Brief bits of news Quick action Weather and Sports Range of Images and Videos Voice overs and Anchor people Task 1: Importing the Video Elements Step 2 – Go Into MovieMaker and click on Insert Media. Go to Computer, then P: drive (the second link) then ICT, then DLD Day – Friday. All the content you will be using will be in here. You can insert them all by dragging the folder onto the MovieMaker but this will take time but you will only need one video from each folder of your choice and all the images..

3 Main Menu 2 Assignment Think about what makes a new programme work Brief bits of news Quick action Weather and Sports Range of Images and Videos Voice overs and Anchor people Task 1: Placing the Elements Step 1 – Once you have all your content we need to put them onto the timeline. First make sure you have Timeline selected rather than Project Line. Click on the Show Timeline Option if it is not already showing. Next Drag the first bit of footage (should be the intro animation) onto the beginning of the timeline at the bottom of the screen.

3 Main Menu 2 Assignment Think about what makes a new programme work Brief bits of news Quick action Weather and Sports Range of Images and Videos Voice overs and Anchor people Task 2: Placing the Elements Step 2 – Next do the same with the rest of the video and weather footage. The sequence should be: Intro Animation, Anchor, First Story, 3 Images of the First Story (Ukraine), Video of the Second story, 3 Images of the Second Story, Third Story (Chislehurst and Bromley News Story), 3 Images of the Third Story, Fourth Story, Images of Sport, Weather Forecast, Conclusion Titles. Drop them onto the timeline in order, keeping the images in theme, Ukraine in one area, Sport in another, weather in another.

3 Main Menu 2 Assignment Think about what makes a new programme work Brief bits of news Quick action Weather and Sports Range of Images and Videos Voice overs and Anchor people Task 2: Placing the Elements Step 3 – Next you will need to stretch the images so they stay on longer and shrink the videos so they take less time. First zoom in to the area with the images you placed using the zoom tool. Grab the black line at the end of each image and either reduce it down or increase it, three seconds is enough for any image for the audience to know what it means.

3 Main Menu 2 Assignment Think about what makes a new programme work Brief bits of news Quick action Weather and Sports Range of Images and Videos Voice overs and Anchor people Task 3: Placing the Sounds and Voices Step 1 – Next you will need to place the sounds and voice overs onto the Audio/Music track. Drag it onto the Audio Track and Move it along to where you would like it to go. Over the pictures would be good. When it is in place, reduce the size down so it does not overlap onto the video or make the images longer until it fills the length of the sound file.

3 Main Menu 2 Assignment Think about what makes a new programme work Brief bits of news Quick action Weather and Sports Range of Images and Videos Voice overs and Anchor people Task 4: Placing the Transitions Step 1 – Next click on Video transitions on the left hand side of the screen. You will find a huge range to choose from. Find one you like and pick it up. Drag it down to the gap between one video and another. When done, drag the blue time marker to a few seconds before the transition and click on the play button to see what it looks like. Then do the same for the other videos and images but stick to one or two, do not go nuts.

3 Main Menu 2 Assignment Think about what makes a new programme work Brief bits of news Quick action Weather and Sports Range of Images and Videos Voice overs and Anchor people Task 5: Placing the Video Effects Step 1 – Next click on Video Effects on the left hand side of the screen. Again, you will find a huge range to choose from. Find one you like and pick it up. Drag it down to the gap between one video and another or one picture and another. When done, drag the blue time marker to a few seconds before the effect and click on the play button to see what it looks like. Then do the same for the other videos and images but stick to one or two, do not go nuts.

3 Main Menu 2 Assignment Think about what makes a new programme work Brief bits of news Quick action Weather and Sports Range of Images and Videos Voice overs and Anchor people Task 6: Checking for Continuity Step 1 – For this section you will need to watch through your videos and check that everything is in pace. Continuity means holding together The sound and audio should match the videos, the animations should not be too many, one picture should merge into the other not jump. Videos that are too long should be shortened, pictures too short should be lengthened.

3 Main Menu 2 Assignment Think about what makes a new programme work Brief bits of news Quick action Weather and Sports Range of Images and Videos Voice overs and Anchor people Task 7: Putting on Titles Step 1 – For the weather forecast you will need to add in titles to show what is on the screen. This might be tricky so you might need to get some images that are better suited. On the left hand side click on Make titles. There are several kinds to choose from, Before the video, after the video and on the current scene. You should do the titles on the selected weather forecast clip. Make it appropriate.

3 Main Menu 2 Assignment Think about what makes a new programme work Brief bits of news Quick action Weather and Sports Range of Images and Videos Voice overs and Anchor people Task 7: Putting on Titles Step 2 – First click on the Clip you want the title to go on. Then click on Title on Current Clip from the Titles section. Then in the Box that is created, type the main text in the top box and the sub-text in the bottom box. On the right hand side you should get a preview of what it should look like.

Choose something that is appropriate and make it as large as needs be from the A buttons. Then click on Done, add Title to movie.
