 Entrance. Controls how an object first appears on a slide.  Emphasis. Draws attention to an object that is already displayed on a slide.  Exit. Controls how an object leaves (or disappears from) a slide.  Motion Paths. Defines the line of travel that an object can follow as part of an animation effect. 4 1

To apply animation to a selected object:  From the Animations tab, in the Animation group, click the More button (or in the Advanced Animation group, click the Add Animation button) to see the gallery of effects.  Point to effects for a live preview.  Click to apply an effect.  An animation tag will appear next to the object. 5 Exercise Figure 10-1 Animation effects

To change the effect on a selected animated object:  From the Animations tab, in the Animation group, click the More button.  Click to apply an effect. 6 Exercise Figure 10-2 Scroll for more entrance effects

To change effect options on an animated object:  Select the animated object.  From the Animations tab, in the Animation group, click the Effect Options button. – The available effect options vary based on the effect.  Click to apply an effect. 7 1

 Emphasis effects draw your audience’s attention to an object on a slide.  Exit effects make objects leave a slide.  These effects are applied in the same way as Entrance effects.  From the Animations tab, use the Preview button to test effects. 8 Exercise

 With an object selected, from the Animations tab, in the Advanced Animation group, click the Add Animation button and choose More Motion Paths. – The Add Motion Path dialog box has many preset options. – Each path can be resized to cover a small or large area of the slide.  Click to apply an effect. 9 Exercise Figure 10-3 These adjustments can be controlled using the Animation pane.  To remove an animation effect from an object, use one of these methods.  Select the animation tag number on the slide and press Delete.  From the Animation Pane, select the animation in the list and press Delete or click the Remove button. 11 1

 With the chart selected, from the Animations tab, in the Advanced Animation group, click the Add Animation button, and choose an Entrance effect.  Click the Animation Pane button. In the Animation list, click the chart list box arrow then choose Effect Options. – Click the Chart Animation tab, click the Group chart list box arrow, and choose By Category or By Series. – Clear the check box for Start animation by drawing the chart background Figure 10-6

 The Effect Options button on the Animations tab can be used to control the direction for how the chart appears and the sequence for how the chart is grouped: – As One Object – By Series – By Category – By Elements in Series – By Element in Category 13 1

To set automatic animation on a selected object:  In the Animation pane, click the list box arrow, and choose Start After Previous. – The animation items are renumbered – In the animation list a clock icon replaces the mouse icon in front of the animation name, indicating that the animation will start automatically.  When multiple animations have been applied with the After Previous setting: – All the animation tags on the slide will contain the same number, indicating that they are one animation sequence. 15 2

To change animation duration on a selected object:  In the Animation pane, click the list box arrow, and choose Timing. – From the Start list box, choose After Previous. – From the Timing tab, change Duration to the number of seconds you need. – Add seconds for Delay if you want the animation to start after a particular amount of time. – Click OK These adjustments can be controlled using commands on the Animations tab in the Advanced Animation and Timing groups.

To add a Trigger to control what starts the animation:  From the Animations tab, in the Advanced Animation group, click the Trigger button, and choose On Click of and then the object. – This makes the animation start when that object is clicked. – Adjust the Duration as needed These adjustments can be controlled using Effect Options from the list on the Animation pane.

 In the Animation pane, click the object’s list box arrow and choose Effect Options. – A dialog box for the particular effect chosen will open. – The options vary, depending on the animation. – Click the Sound list box arrow then scroll down the lists of sounds and select one.  Click OK. 18 Exercise Figure 10-7 Effect Options showing movement can be controlled from the Animations tab, but sound can only be added using Effect Options on the Animation Pane list. Bulleted text can appear in different sequences:  As One Object. The selection appears and is animated as one object.  All at Once. All items appear at once, but the animation effect is applied to each part individually.  By Paragraphs. Each bullet and subset of bullets are brought in together. 19 2

To change animation sequence:  From the Animation pane, select an item in the animation list.  Click the Re-Order up arrow or down arrow to move the item into a different position. – The items are automatically renumbered in the list and on the slide. 20 Exercise Figure 10-8 This adjustment can be controlled from the Animations tab, in the Timing groups, using the Move Earlier or Move Later commands.  From the Animation pane, select an item in the Animation list and click its list box arrow.  Choose Timing and a dialog box for this effect opens.  On the Timing tab, in the Delay spin box, key 2 (for two seconds).  Click OK This adjustment can be controlled from the Animations tab, in the Timing groups, using the Delay spin box.

 When an animated object is copied, animation effects are copied, also. – Copying can save a lot of time for elaborate animations that take many steps to create. – Copied animations can be pasted on the same slide or a different slide.  The Animation Painter button (Animation tab, Advanced Animation group), enables you to copy animation effects from one object and apply them to a different object. 22 2

 From the Insert tab, in the Media group, click the bottom of the Audio button and select Clip Art Audio. – The Clip Art pane opens, displaying icons for sound files. In the Search for box, key an appropriate word and click Go. – Click the Results should be list box arrow, and be sure Audio is checked.  Choose Preview/Properties to hear the audio file.  Click the audio thumbnail to insert it.  In a slide show the audio will play when clicked Audio files

 When an audio clip is inserted, a speaker icon appears with a control panel in the center of the slide. – Drag the speaker icon to reposition it Play/Pause Move Back/Move Forward Mute/UnmuteElapsed TimeTime Line

 Select the music object in the Animation pane. Change the Start setting to With Previous.  Choose Effect Options. The Play Sound dialog box opens, displaying the Effect tab. – For Start playing, choose From beginning. – For Stop playing, choose After current slide. – On the Audio Settings tab, click the Speaker button and turn down the Sound volume. – Place a check in the Hide sound icon during slide show option so that the speaker icon is not visible. – Click OK These adjustments can be controlled from the Audio Tools Playback tab. To bookmark an audio clip:  With the speaker icon selected, from the Audio Tools Playback tab, click the Add Bookmark button.  Point to the appropriate location on the time line and click. 28 Exercise

To trim an audio clip:  With the speaker icon selected, from the Audio Tools Playback tab, click the Trim Audio button.  Drag the green slider on the left to adjust the start time.  Drag the red slider on the right to adjust the end time. – You can also click the Next Frame and Previous Frame buttons or change the numbers to adjust start and end times Figure BeginEnd Previous Frame PlayNext Frame

 From the Insert tab, in the Media group, click the bottom half of the Audio button and select Audio from File.  Locate your sound file and click Insert.  From the Audio Tools Playback tab, in the Audio Options group, click the Start list box. – Choose Automatically. – Check Hide During Show. 30 Exercise Figure 10-15

 From the Insert tab, in the Media group, click the bottom half of the Audio button and select Record Audio. – In the Name box, key the title for the audio recording. – Click the Record button to begin recording and then speak into the microphone. – When finished, click the Stop button to end the recording. – Click the Play button to review your recording PlayStopRecord

 From the Insert tab, in the Media group, click the bottom of the Video button and select Clip Art Video. – In the Search for box, key a word for the video you need. – In the Search in list box, check Everywhere. – In the Results should be list box, check Videos, clear all the other check boxes, and then click Go. – Insert a video with a suitable theme and colors.  Display the Animation pane; then click Play to see the video. 33 Exercise Figure Clip art video

 From the Insert tab, in the Media group, click the bottom of the Video button and select Video from File. – Locate your file and click Insert. – Allow the video to start Automatically. – Resize as appropriate.  Preview the slide show to watch the video then press to end the slide show. Figure

 From the Insert tab, in the Media group, lick the bottom of the Video button and select Video from Web site. The Insert Video From dialog box opens.  Using your browser, go to the site containing the video you will use. – Copy the embed code and paste it on the dialog box. – Click Insert.  Click the Play button on the Video Tools Playback tab to test the video.  Select text that will become the link.  From the Insert tab, in the Links group, click the Hyperlink button (or press Ctrl + K) to open the Insert Hyperlink dialog box. – Under Link to, choose Place in This Document. – In the Select a place in this document list box, choose the slide to link. – Click OK. 37 Exercise Figure Link to this slide

To create an Action Button to return to a menu slide:  From the Insert tab, in the Illustrations group, click the Shapes button. – Under the Action buttons category, select an Action Button and draw a small rectangle. – In the Action Settings dialog box, click the Hyperlink to list box arrow and choose Slide. – In the Hyperlink to Slide dialog box, choose the slide that contains your menu. Click OK. – Click OK again to close the Action Settings dialog box. 38 Figure Any shape can be made to hyperlink using the Action button on the Insert tab.

 From the Insert tab, in the Links group, click the Hyperlink button (or press + ). The Insert Hyperlink dialog box opens. – In the Link to box on the left side, choose Existing File or Web Page. – In the Look in box, navigate to your file and select it. – Click the ScreenTip button then on the Set Hyperlink ScreenTip dialog box, key identifying text. – Click OK. Click OK again to close the Insert Hyperlink dialog box. 39 Figure

 Press + to open the Insert Hyperlink dialog box.  Under Link to, click Existing File or Web Page.  Navigate to your file and select it (such as an Excel worksheet).  Click ScreenTip, and then key appropriate identifying text.  Click OK. Click OK again to close the Insert hyperlink dialog box. 40 5

 Select the word(s) for the link.  Press Ctrl + K to open the Insert Hyperlink dialog box. – Under Link to, click Existing File or Web Page. – In the Address box at the bottom of the dialog box, key the address for the Web site. – Click ScreenTip, and then key appropriate identifying text. Click OK. – Click OK to close the Insert Hyperlink dialog box. 41 Figure
