Life Cycles of Animals

Changes… A fact of life is that things change. Plants and animals are among those things that change. They go through many different stages as they grow, just like you!

The Life Cycle of a Plant The life of a plant begins as a seed… Then it begins to sprout… Then it develops roots, a stem, leaves and flowers!

The Life Cycle of an Animal - Humans First it starts as a baby... 2. Then it turns into a child… 3. Next it becomes a teenager… 4. Finally it becomes an adult!

Complete Change Some animals do not look anything like their parents when they are born. This complete change is called a metamorphosis.

The Life Cycle of a Butterfly First the life of a butterfly begins as an egg… Then it grows into a caterpillar… Next the caterpillar makes a cocoon… Finally after time, a butterfly emerges!

The Life Cycle of a Frog The life of a frog begins as an egg… Then it develops into a tadpole… Finally the legs grow and it becomes a frog!

Compare & Contrast: How are life cycles different or similar between animals?

Can you show us some other life cycles? Make a diagram explaining the life cycle of an animal from above.
