5. Life Cycle of a Plant

6. A plant’s life cycle starts with a seed.
Inside the seed is a tiny new plant.
The outside of the seed has a special covering called a seed coat.

7. When the seed gets the right amount of water, warmth, and air, it can begin to grow.

8. As the sprout continues to develop, it will grow roots, a stem, leaves, and flowers which will form more seeds and fruit.

10. Metamorphosis
Metamorphosis is the changes that a frog goes through during its life cycle.
There are four main stages in the life cycle of the frog.

11. Egg The first stage in the life cycle of the frog is the egg.
A frog lays many eggs at one time.
The eggs are covered with a jellylike coating.

12. Tadpole The second stage of the frog life cycle is the tadpole.
Hatched tadpoles have gills for breathing in the water.
They have a tail, but no legs.

13. Metamorphosing frog
In the third stage the tadpole begins to look more like an adult frog.

14. Adult Frog
Once the lungs form and begin to work, the gills and tail disappear.
The adult frog is now ready to live on land.
