Preliminaries  List the 5 phases of the Shakespeare reading strategy.

Objectives:  The students will be able to summarize the main plot events in a given scene in the play.  The students will be able to analyze the characters of Romeo and Juliet independently.  The students will be able to interpret the characters of Romeo and Juliet independently.

Focus Lesson: …Review  Log on to online.com. online.com.  Perform each element of the reading strategy independently upon a teacher- assigned scene:  List the main plot elements of the scene.  Mark the plot diagram appropriately.  Act out one of the characters in the scene.

Focus Lesson: …Review  Review: evaluation of strategy implementation  The exam is on May 2. Your exam grade will depend upon how well you can write a constructed response which must contain the following:  Thesis statement  2 instances of support with specific details from the text
