Crash Course Fort Sumter

Map Work Color the battle symbol at Fort Sumter to show a Confederate victory.

Map Work In Box 1 print “April 1861: Lincoln calls for 75,000 volunteers.” Next to the line of ships along the Southern coast, print the word “Blockade.” Lightly shade the four other states that joined the Confederacy using the same color as “Slave states that seceded.” – Virginia, Arkansas, North Carolina, Tennessee

Map Work Using a new color, lightly shade the four Southern Slave states that remained in the Union. – Maryland, Kentucky, Delaware, Missouri – Add a square to the map key and color it in with the color used to shade in the southern states that remained in the Union. Label it – “Border States”
