2 nd Regional Coordinating Agencies meeting May 27-29, 2015 Washington, DC Session V: Discussions on the future ICP integration into work programs and improving the uses of ICP data

Mainstreaming PPP Work (1)  Mainstream and integrate PPP work into NSOs work program to ensure the continuity and cost-effectiveness of the ICP  Synergies with CPI surveys  Compilation of expenditure-based GDPs / SUTs/ IO Tables  Incorporate PPP work into the regional and international agencies’ work program  PPP work as an established business line with dedicated regular budget rather than externally funded project  Donors’ eagerness to shift funding to activities directly benefiting countries (data collection, technical assistance, workshops, etc.) rather than governance and organization 2

Mainstreaming PPP Work (2)  Include PPP-related topics in the agendas of existing working groups  Price statistics: Inter-Secretariat Working Group on Price Statistics, Working Group on Real Estate Prices, Ottawa Group on Price Indices  National Accounts: Inter-Secretariat Working Group on National Accounts  PPP-specific methodologies: Dedicated task forces  Incorporate technical assistance activities in price statistics and national accounts expenditure data into existing technical assistance processes undertaken by the IMF, World Bank, Regional Development Banks and UN agencies 3

Gearing up outreach efforts  Demonstrate PPP and ICP data value within our institutions  Demonstrate PPP and ICP data uses by policy-makers at national level  Reach out to policy-makers to secure country commitment in the long-run  Combine outreach efforts at global, regional and national level 4
