STAR360 Goal Setting and Testing

Agenda for Eagle Support  Today’s Eagle Support is a reminder of the following: 1.STAR360 testing – What is it? Why should I try hard? 2.STAR360 Goal Setting – How do I use this test to help me pass: 1.EOC 2.TSI 3.PSAT/SAT 3. STAR360 procedures 4. STAR360 test log in 2

STAR360 Test – what is it?  STAR360 is a Reading and a Math test.  It is a “smart” test. This means as you get questions correct, the test gets harder. As you get questions wrong, the test gets easier.  The questions on the STAR360 test are matched to the questions on the EOC, PSAT, SAT, ACT and TSI. Your score on the STAR360 test tells you how close you are to passing these tests.  Your score on the STAR360 test also tells the school what topics you can study in order to prepare for the EOC, PSAT, SAT, ACT and TSI. 3

Tests I have to pass that STAR360 helps me study for  EOC = End of Course. Students must pass the EOC in 9 th grade English, 10 th grade English, Algebra, Biology and History in order to graduate from high school.  PSAT = Pre- Scholastic Aptitude Test. This test is used to determine if you are ready for AP (Advanced Placement) courses or IB (International Baccalaureate) courses. It can also tell you how close you are to passing the SAT test. You take this test your Freshman, Sophomore and Junior year.  SAT = Scholastic Aptitude Test. This test is used by colleges to determine if you qualify to enter that college. You take this test in your junior and senior year.  ACT = American College Test. This test is used by colleges to determine if you qualify to enter that college. You take this test in your junior and senior year.  TSI = Texas Success Initiative. This test is used to qualify you to take Dual Credit Courses and is used for college entrance requirements for any college in the state of Texas. 4
