 Cyberbullying has been around for many years but it has never been as extreme as it is today.  In this power point we are going to explain what Cyberbullying is, who is effected, why people do it and what people are doing to put a stop to it!

What is Cyberbullying? Cyberbullying is the repeated harassment of a person on a digital device. Cyberbullying can hurt someone emotionally and physically. A Cyberbully can be anonymous or they can be someone you know. These messages could be sent directly to the victim or be posted about the person for everyone to see.

The effect Cyberbullying has on its victims is huge. Many of the victims experience anger, sadness, embarrassment, poor concentration, are afraid, have low school achievement, low self esteem and some victims suffer from depression. In some extreme cases of Cyberbullying the victim is bullied so much that it causes them to take their own life. As you can see Cyberbullying is very serious and is not something to joke about! THE EFFECTS IT HAS ON THE VICTIMS-

 If you Cyberbully you can be arrested, however that depends on the severity of the bullying. You may also be fined. The point is Cyberbullying effects both the victim and the bully, so don’t Cyberbully!

What are people doing to stop it ? If you know someone who is getting Cyberbullied or is a Cyberbully tell a trusted adult. If you are getting Cyberbullied you can just simply ignore it and/or tell someone. Also if you are being Cyberbullied you can contact the Kids Helpline at or go to Kidshelpphone.ca

Why do people Cyberbully? Most Cyberbullys bully because they have trouble dealing with their own l0w self esteem. Some bully because they want to feel powerful or to fit in with their friends.

What is a Hacker? The most basic definition for Hacker is someone who uses your computer or other technology to get unauthorized information. Not all hacking is illegal some hacking can be legal if you have the persons permission.

What you can do if you get Hacked Here are some things that you can do if you get hacked… Reset your password Download an anti virus software Take back your account (Some online services have tools to help you get your account back after it has been taken over by someone else) Change/check your security question (some hackers will change your security question so they can get back onto your account.

Consequences of Hacking If you get caught illegaly hacking you can be imprisoned and/or fined! Hacking

Why people hack- People hack to get information, to bully, for fun and/or to steal. To bully- Some people hack into other peoples account and put inappropriate pictures or text to embarrass or hurt their feelings. What can you do if you have been a victim of Identity Theft? There are three simple steps to follow if you have been a victim of Identity Theft. Report It! Ex. If you don’t report it and the identity Theft uses your information to take money out of your bank account then you can be held liable. Do a Credit Check! Make sure that no one has changed anything. You can put a fraud alert on your credit file so the creditors can alert you if anything has been changed. Protect you Identity for the Future! Contact PhoneBusters National Call Centre, they can help you to restore your Identity and fix any Credit changes.
