„Don’t lose!” Social campaign against commercial sexual exploitation of children in the context of EURO 2012 Organized by: Honorary patronages: Financed by:

During mass sport events the risk of child trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children may increase Greece a noticeable increase in number of cases of trafficking, may have been a result of lack of preventive programmes - children were exploited in prostitution, they weren’t „seen” on the streets Germany preventive actions were intensified eg. large number of the police in the streets, nationwide preventive programmes - the scale of prostitution increased, (not linked with human trafficking) South Africa intensified preventive actions - organized care for children in their free time

What we were facing Potential risks might be increased due to several factors: Poland is a source, transit and destination country in commercial sexual exploitation Ukraine is a source country for children victims of commercial sexual exploitation, there is also a problem of internal trafficking of children Geolocation in general Economic crisis in both countries Lucid atmosphere: alcohol, large number of turists, the feeling of anonymity, eagerness to enjoy the time Summer: children travelling alone on holidays; runaways from homes and institutions (e.g. orphanages)

European Championship in Football in 2012 was a very good time for: Drawing attention of wide public to the problem of child trafficking and sexual exploitation of children and youth Reaching a wide range of people with the campaign message (potential offenders, youth) Mobilization (governmental administration, NGOs, media, society) in longlasting educational and preventive activities Identification of the legal gaps and lobbying activities for changes in law and social policy

„Don’t loose” campaign’s goals Increasing competences of professionals responsible for child protection Making children more aware of possible threats related to commercial sexual exploitation Discouraging adults from undertaking commercial sexual contacts with children
