How to Draw a Pyramid & Wedge With Linear Perspective

Pyramid in One-Point Perspective – Begin with the front plane of the pyramid, a triangle.

Connect the bottom corners to the vanishing point.

Draw the back edge, beginning at the peak and ending at the base.

Erase unnecessary lines.

Pyramid in Two-Point Perspective – Add two vanishing points, one at either end of the horizon line. xx

Begin with the bottom of the pyramid by drawing two lines to the vanishing points. xx

xx Repeat the process, partway up the orthographic lines (lines going to vanishing points).

xx Erase unnecessary lines. Now, you have a rectangle laying flat on the floor.

xx Find the center of this rectangle. That will determine the placement of the peak of the pyramid.

xx Connect the top of the middle line to the corners of the rectangle.

xx Erase unnecessary lines, or color in the pyramid.

Wedge in One-Point Perspective – Begin with the front plane of the wedge, a triangle.

Connect the corners of the wedge to the vanishing point.

Draw the back edges. Make them parallel to the front edges.

Erase unnecessary lines.

Wedge in Two-Point Perspective – Begin by placing a vanishing point on either end of the horizon line. xx

Start with a vertical edge of the wedge. xx

Connect the top and bottom of that line to both vanishing points. xx

Connect the top and bottom of the vertical line on the high end to the opposite vanishing point. xx

Connect the top and bottom of the vertical line on the low end. xx

xx

Draw a vertical line in the back corner. xx

To make the slant of the wedge, connect the top corners of the high end to the bottom corners of the low end. xx

Erase unnecessary lines. xx

xx
