1 Representations of Three-Dimensional Figures
Page 212 in Know-It Notebook Draw representations of three-dimensional figures. Recognize a three-dimensional figure from a given representation.

2 Warm Up Write a description of each figure. Describe the base(s) and other faces or surfaces. 1. cube 2. pentagonal prism 3. cylinder All faces are squares. The 2 bases are pentagons and the other 5 faces are parallelograms The two bases are circles. The other surface is curved and joins the two circles together. FHS Chapter 10

3 Orthographic Drawing An orthographic drawing shows six different views of an object: top, bottom, front, back, left side, and right side. Here’s an example: Top Front Back Right side Left side Bottom FHS Chapter 10

4 Orthographic Drawing See if you can draw each view of the following figure: top front back Insert example 1 here. bottom right left FHS Chapter 10

5 Isometric Drawing Isometric drawing is a way to show three sides of a figure from a corner view, usually using isometric dot paper. Here is an example Insert example 2 here. FHS Chapter 10

6 Perspective Drawing In a perspective drawing, lines are drawn so that they meet at a point called a vanishing point. Vanishing points are located on a line called horizon. Here is an example of one-point perspective: Horizon Vanishing Point FHS Chapter 10

7 Perspective Drawing Here is an example of two-point perspective:
Vanishing Points Insert examples 3 and 4 here. Horizon FHS Chapter 10

8 Helpful Hint In a one-point perspective drawing of a cube, you are looking at a face. In a two-point perspective drawing, you are looking at a corner. Two-point perspective One-point perspective FHS Chapter 10

9 How To Draw With One-point Perspective:
Draw a horizon and a vanishing point. Draw light pencil lines from each vertex to the vanishing point. Draw lines parallel to lines in figure. Connect corners. Erase pencil lines. FHS Chapter 10

10 Lesson Quiz – Part I Draw all six orthographic views of the object. Assume there are no hidden cubes. FHS Chapter 10

11 Lesson Quiz – Part II Draw an isometric view of the object. FHS
Chapter 10
