STDEP Toolkits Workshop Making local transport work for you Jason Torrance Policy Director, Sustrans

Evolution of STDEP /16 DfT Revenue competition launched to match £100m in Local Growth Fund SR15 confirms £500m (5 year) Local Growth Fund and £80 revenue via DfT ‘Access Fund’ STDEP 2015 reports on support delivered to 28 LEPs Consultation on Draft Strategy that includes support to LEPs and LAs 1 st year of ‘Access Fund’ Revenue competition launched to join with investment in Local Growth Fund

3 - Department for Transport Programme -delivered by the Active Travel Consortium -co-ordinated by Sustrans in partnership with: British Cycling, CTC, Living Streets and TAS Partnership. 10 areas of support were requested. Top five themes were: Advice on developing the economic case for sustainable transport schemes (requested by 72% of LEPs engaged with the programme). Advice/support on design and development (68%) Advice on action plans for increasing active travel (64%) Advice on monitoring and evaluating (56%) Advice on design, development and management of projects that redesign the public realm (50%) £250,000 of investment from DfT provided support to 28 LEPs. STDEP 2015 – key themes

support will be co-ordinated by Sustrans in partnership with: Living Streets and TAS Partnership to deliver: 1. General support (up to 20 days per LEP) 2. Toolkit development - Housing growth and planning - Economic development - Public health 3. Focussed support (30 days for each one of six LEPs) STDEP 2016 – Programme

Co-ordinate programme between Consortium partners Sustrans, Living Streets and TAS Partnership. General support begins: Consortium members engaged to provide support Evaluation report to DfT: Present outputs and next steps to consider

LEPs have submitted an EOI requesting support - So far 32 out of 36 proformas have been received. Within the received proformas are: 25 LEPs are requesting support for: Committed Projects LEPs are requesting support for: Provisional Projects LEPs are requesting support for: Advocacy/knowledge/up-skilling STDEP 2016 – emerging themes
