 Within the programme there is always someone drinking tea. As tea is a general house warming offering to a guest. Also within a time of crisis tea is often introduced into a conversation to settle moods and issues.  Tea is a stereotype of British people and is one that has been constantly proven within the varying soap opera programmes.  It is a social thing adopted by both men and women.

 Local pub – classical feature of the British TV programmes whether it is a soap opera or a series programme; seen in programmes such as Eastenders, Hustle. This illustrates that the British culture is centralised around the drinking scene. Have the British people adopted the drinking culture or has the drinking culture found home within the British people. - In many ways the poisoning lifestyle of British people have arguable developed within poorer communities, which have allowed these low income families to gain some sort of escapism. - Are the people living within a Emmerdale bored of their rural life or is it a means of socialising  Post office/ cafe – these two places are integrated within the same building. This shows that there is no much people hence the fact that there is no need for separate building. The Cafe also symbolises a focal part within the British culture. It is a place which denotes a the Full English Breakfast lifestyle of the British.  Factory- The factory highlights the traditional two tier system of the white collar workers and the blue collar workers.

 Emmerdale is a soap opera that highlights the stereotypical country life of the British.  They have a tight- knit community which illustrates the typical village lifestyle.  Surrounding by the greenery and extremely rural lifestyle.  Also there are many families within the village that have pets such as dogs which promote the stereotype of a British love of animals.

 Overall, I believe that the soap opera Emmerdale promotes the stereotypical views of village life in Britain. Within the hidden but oh so open lives and the central themes that provide a social aspect to life.
