Distributive Property

 A (B + C) = AB + AC  5 (x + 3) Multiple each value inside the parenthesis by 5  5 (X) + 5 (3) Add or subtract all like term  5x + 15 Because it is simplified this is your final answer

Distributive Property  A (B + C) = AB + AC  -6 (y – 4)  -6(y) + -6(-4)  -6y + 24

Distributive Property  A (B + C) = AB + AC  7 (x – 3)  7(x) + 7(-3)  7x - 21

Distributive Property  A (B + C) = AB + AC  4 (7 + 3)  4(7) + 4(3)   40  OR  4 (7 + 3) Since same terms add what is in ( ) first  4 (10)  40

Distributive Property  A (B + C) = AB + AC  (x – 3) 5 This is a Distributive Problem but number is on backside  5(x-3) Problem can be rewritten like this  5(x) + 5(-3)  5x - 15

Distributive Property  A (B + C) = AB + AC  -(x – 7)  -1(x – 7) Rewrite equation with a -1  -1(x) + -1(-7)  -1x + 7

Distributive Property Practice Problems  1. 8 (c + 4)  (X + 2)  3. 3 (V – 3)  (x – 7)  5. 4(3x + 7)  6. (x – 9) 3  (-2x + 6)  8. 2 (-x + -1)  9 (7x + 4) (-3)  10. (x + 5) (x – 3)
