Lincoln Memorial The Lincoln Memorial is a tribute to President Abraham Lincoln and the nation he fought to preserve during the Civil War ( ).

African Burial Ground Over 400 Africans were buried here in the 17 th and 18 th centuries. Archeologists discovered remains of African culture stretching back to over 350 years.

The African American Civil War Memorial honors the service of 209,145 African American soldiers and sailors who fought for the Union in the United States Civil War.

Fallen Fire Fighters Memorial A grateful nation honors its fallen fire service heroes at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial Park in Emmitsburg, Maryland.
