BUYING ROLE OVERVIEW

4 BUYING WHAT IS BUYING? Buying is all about sourcing and developing a collection that is commercial but brand appropriate. Buyer’s have the ability to spot a new trend a mile away and will work with suppliers to ensure the best products are available for customers, in-store and online, at the right time. Strong business element to this role as they will constantly be negotiating for the best deal so you will need a mix of creativity and commercial awareness. As a BAA you’ll be responsible for managing the Critical Path, managing the sample library, supporting the team administratively, conducting competitive shops and attending fit sessions. OPPORTUNTIES: Start as a Buyers Admin Assistant, progressing to: Assistant Buyers and Junior Buyers Buyers and Senior Buyers Buying Managers and Heads of Buying Buying Directors

6 MERCHANDISING WHAT IS MERCHANDISING? The right stock in the right place, at the right time in the right quantities and right colours Analyse sale figures to allocate stock, to avoid mark down, and maximise profit Spotting trends and backing best sellers and minimise risk on poor performing lines Working in “marriage” with Buying and Design, to select a commercial product at the best possible value. FINANCE ROLE OVERVIEW

FINANCE At Arcadia, Finance is about much more than number crunching. Your findings have a direct impact on key decisions made throughout the business, developing strategy, direction and the future of Arcadia and all its brands. Our brand based teams guide what happens in our stores and online through budgeting, reporting and forecasting, whilst our Group teams oversee finances for the whole of Arcadia. Our 3 phase Exceed programme allows you to rotate between areas of Finance with different focuses – from Group, through to Buying and Merchandising and then Retail Finance. Plus, we’ll support you through your CIMA or ACCA qualification throughout the programme.
