What does the Pack Committee do? The Pack Committee takes care of the administrative needs of the pack. It is organized and chaired by the Pack Committee Chairperson. The committee consists of at least three people and is responsible for: –Finding a meeting place –Setting the Pack policies in accordance with Boy Scouting and the chartered organization. –Coordinating the Pack program with that of the charter organization. –Assist with the annual Pack charter renewal. –Is responsible for carrying out the policies and regulations of the Boy Scouts of America. –Provides encouragement to leaders in carrying out the Pack program. –Provides the finances and fundraising coordination for the Pack. –Is responsible for Pack property. –Is responsible for the quality of the adult leadership, that the leadership is recruited and trained. This is all adult leadership, including Cubmaster. –Responsible for recommending this leadership to the charter organization for final approval. –Coordination between the Pack and other scouting units. Pack Committee Meeting The purpose of the Pack Committee Meeting is to plan & organize pack activities. The Pack Committee Meeting is held once per month (usually the 1 st Tuesday of the month) All Pack leaders should attend the Pack Committee Meetings. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Training Every boy deserves a trained leader In order to re-charter with the BSA in 2014/2015 all top leadership & direct contact leaders must be fully trained –Youth Protection Training (YPT) All registered Leaders must take YPT and adhere to the guidelines of the BSA –Two Deep Leadership* –Leader Position Specific Training Leader Position Specific *Without Assistant Den Leaders, all parents will be required to take YPT to make sure we can comply with two deep leadership requirements myscouting.scouting.org

Pack Finances / Expenses Current Financial Balance –$642 Cost per scout per year (Based on estimates from ) –Approx $144 per scout –Recharter Costs (per scout) $24 BSA registration fee $12 Boy’s Life Magazine $1 BSA insurance $10 to Den Leaders for expenses ~$7 for Leadership registration costs –$24 per adult registration x 10 leaders / 37 scouts *$13 for new Tiger Cubs (Sept  Dec) –Pack Expenses ~$90 per scout Pack 321 charter fee; leader registration fee, insurance and training; advancement supplies such as ranks, patches and beads; award supplies like pins, patches and trophies; Pinewood Derby car for each scout; expenses for Pack meetings including crafts, activity supplies, and refreshments; Pack web-site, paper, printing, etc. Last Year dues = $55 / Scout –We relied solely on popcorn sales to fund pack activities –2013 popcorn sales were down from 2012 Expenses Not Paid Last Year (-$680) –Not all disbursements were given to Den Leaders in 2013 ($320) –There was not a Pack Meeting in January or April (~$200) –We will have to pay for September Pack Meeting (~$160)

Pack Dues for $160 per scout Discounts –$20 off if paid by Sept 30th –$30 off for $100 in popcorn sales –$80 off for $300 in popcorn sales –No charge for $600 in popcorn sales –**Uniforms, Special events or activities, overnight trips, camping trips, and den activities may be additional cost. It’s easy to sell $300-$400 by attending Show & Sells and with one afternoon of door to door popcorn sales.
