Update on Lions + Family Scouting Programs in the Baltimore Area Council April, 2018

4 Lion Ranks Will now earn belt loops
5 required Adventures and 9 electives Lion Cub Scout Hand Book (formally known as Youth Adventure Book) + Parent and Leader Guidebook

5 Lions Leadership + Pack events
Lion Guides will now be registered and referred to as Den Leaders No Den Chief for the Lion Dens Lions should participate in 2-4 pack meetings a program year Lions can participate in Pinewood Derby Lions can participate in Family Camping with the pack

8 Program Timeline Family Scouting will begin June 1st, 2018 for BAC packs that opt-in Chartered partners and Pack Leaders confirm their interest and agree to use the family pack model by signing and returning commitment form Packs can opt-in on a rolling basis New materials available June 1st All leaders trained in updates YPT by October 1st February 2019 – Boy Scout Aged program for girls (more info to follow)

All leaders must have revised YPT by Oct 1st All Boy Den: requirements unchanged All Girl Den: 1 Leader must be registered female at least 21 years old 2 deep always applies Program curriculum is unchanged and new materials and handbooks are being made to reflect both genders Female specific youth uniforms will be available by June 1st

11 Camping and Pack Meetings
If a pack camps for greater than 72 hours, all adults must be registered BSA members with current YPT Guidelines for family camping are in place and adhere to the Family Scouting requirements The pack choose how to structure their pack meetings
