Map Dark red is where Taigas are found.

Geologic Features Trees Thin soil Nutrient poor Acidic

Temperature and Precipitation Temperature in the summer: (-7 C- 21 C) or (20 F- 70 F) Temperature in the winter: (-54 C - -1 C) or ( -68 F – 30 F) Total precipitation per year: inches

Types of Plants Trees- White Spruce, Pine, Hemlock, Douglas Fir, White Poplar. Other: Lichen and Moss

More Plants  Black Spruce  Douglas Fir  Paper Birch  Siberian Spruce

Types of Animals Predators: Lynx, Wolverines, Grey Wolf, Black Bear, Grizzly Bears, Bobcats, Minks, Ermine. Other: Snow Shoe Rabbit, Red Squirrels, Voles, Deer, Elk, and Moose are found in some spots where deciduous trees grow. Insect eating birds come to breed.

More Animals  Black Bear  Brown Bears  River Otters  Marten  Grey Wolves  Vole

Adaptations of Organisms Canada Lynx: Wide paws work like snow shoes to help evenly distribute the Lynx’s weight so it can easily move through the snow. Many of the mammals in the biome have a thick fur coat to insulate them against the cold. Ermine and Snow Shoe Rabbit: Shed brown coats when winter starts and grow white coats to blend in with the snow.

Human Impact Exploration and development of oil and natural gas. People cut down too many trees Protect forests: protect against forestry operations, road construction, and mining activities.

Commercial Value Timber and minerals
