Introduction Aimee Hatteberg EDU673: Instruct. Strat. for Differentiated Teach & Learn Sue Adragna January 28, 2014

Where I live? I live in the Northwoods of Wisconsin in the town of Rib Mountain. I have lived here for the past two years with my fiance Vern and my youngest son Brendan.

Where I grew up? I was born in Elmhurst, Illinois and lived there with my parents and seven siblings for 18 years. I moved out on my own and moved to Grand Junction, Colorado to become a cowgirl. I decided I missed my family too much and moved back home. I met my first husband at a friends wedding and eloped to California. There I had my oldest son, Cody.

Moving around Due to my first husband separating from the Air Force, we moved back to Illinois to be closer to our families. In 2001, I divorced my husband and started on my journey to become independent. I met my fiance and became pregnant with our youngest son. We moved all around Wisconsin until we settled in our current location.

Study Abroad I had the opportunity to work at Walt Disney World as an intern for six months. I also went to Rome & Venice, Italy for three weeks to study Theology.

My Family I have been engaged to be married for the past 12 years to a wonderful man. We have four children between us: Lauren 23, is a 2012 graduate of Northern Illinois University; Cody 22, is in the Navy stationed in Virginia Beach, VA and currently received the rank of Machinist Mate Second Class; Wesley 21, is currently doing beta testing on video games and trying to decide if he is moving back to Wisconsin; Brendan 12, is our baby and is working to complete the First Class rank Boy Scouts, only one more task (swimming) left.

My Achievements in 2013 I graduated Magna Cum Laude on October 12, 2013 I was inducted into the Alpha Sigma Lambda in the Fall of 2013.

Why I chose to pursue my Master's In the state I live in, most of the schools require you to be dual certified in order to teach or be hired. I wanted to further my education since I was not able to take special education classes in my undergrad. I finished and earned my Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies and walked acroos the stage on October 12, 2013 and had already started the Fast Track towards my Master of Arts specializing in Special Education.

Why I am working in this field I have worked with children for over 25 years as a parent volunteer, scout leader, teacher's assistant, respite worker, and a parent. As a child at age 5, I wanted to become a teacher but other dreams and opportunities came first. It took me being laid-off to decide to go back to school and follow my dream of teaching.

Current Position In July of 2013, I was hired as a Special Education Instructional Assistant at Antigo High School working with students that have Emotional and Behavioral Issues and need to be in a self-contained classroom setting. I earned my state license in July as a SEIA and received this award in October, the same week as graduation.

Passion behind career choice I have worked in the schools with students that have various disabilities in both a classroom and respite setting. I believe that I can make a difference in a child's life through the usage of music, theater, and interactive play. I have several nieces and nephews that special needs and I have enjoyed helping them to achieve the knowledge to handle being in school or at least making learning enjoyable.

Favorite Teacher : Mrs. Driskill

Favorite Teacher Mrs. Driskill was my first grade teacher and she taught be that everyone is the same no matter if they have a disability or not. As a child growing up I was the oldest of seven children and Mrs. Driskill always gave me the attention and care that I needed as well as encouraged my artistic skills. I never realized that she made that much of a difference until I was in high school and struggling to deal with issues at home. My senior year of high school I was placed in her classroom as an aide and brought myself back to my love for teaching.

Least Favorite: Too Many I have had many teachers both in middle school and high school that did not give you confidence to try. One teacher in high school if you had them in the morning they were decent but if you had them after lunch, the class was miserable since the teacher would drink during the lunch hour and take out their problems at home on the students.

Favorite Foods If I could only eat one food every night for dinner, I would chose salad/lettuce. I am a big lover of various types of salads and I like to be creative in preparing meals. I just learned last week that you can make veggie chips with kale and spinach. I made some last night for my boys and they loved it.
