2. Hello! Hello, my name is Adrienne Santiago and I am in my 3 rd course towards completing a master’s degree in education. I was born in Brooklyn New York. I completed high school in Southern California and attended California State University Northridge. I now live with my husband in Reno Nevada. Of my three children, two are still in college. My oldest child graduated from NYU graduate school. She received her bachelors from Kenyon College in Ohio. My youngest daughter just graduated from Concordia University in Irvine California and is in a master’s program at Vanguard University. My son attends the University of Nevada Reno. 3. Why did I decide to pursue a master’s degree? Currently I work at Career College of Northern Nevada. I have been with the college for 9 years. I had been a pharmacy technician for over 30 years. I made the jump into education to write and develop a Pharmaceutical Technician training program. The program has been in existence now for 7 years and is very successful. I became very interested in writing curriculum. In March of 2012 I was promoted to Director of Curriculum Development for the college. While I still supervise and manage the Pharmaceutical Technician Program, I oversee all other curriculum for the college and develop new training programs. I have found that I really enjoy building training programs. I love to meet with the local employers and find out what the training and employment needs are in our area. While most of our students at the college are adult learners, students who maybe did not have a plan for college, or are seeking a new direction and career in their lives inspire me. Most of our programs are associate degree programs. I love looking forward to graduation day seeing so many students achieve their dreams. For most, it was not an easy road as adult learners have many daily obstacles to overcome such as the need for full time work, children, and other issues. When I was promoted to the Academic Dean position, it was contigent on me completing my degree. I did, and earned a degree in Instructional Design. 4. Favorite Teacher and Favorite Food? I really did not have a favorite teacher throughout my earlier education. I cannot say that any were bad teachers. I know I felt a fear of teachers because I was not a very good student. I struggled with many things, especially exams. I had a strong respect for teachers as I always saw them as an authoritative figure. If I could eat one food all day it would be pizza. I love pizza. I especially love pizza in New York. So If I could only eat pizza every day for dinner, that would be great because pizza is one of the only foods you can eat with different toppings and never Get bored.
