ENGLISH ROOM 305

RULES FOR 306 Be on time! If you are not inside the classroom when the bell rings, you are late and will be written up! No eating or drinking in the classroom. Water is the only exception. Be prepared! This means you have your textbook, notebook, and a writing utensil. If you forget your book, you must write your name in the book and sign out a loaner. You will also lose two points on your test for that book. Raise your hand if you would like to speak! Respect the classroom. Respect each other.

NO CELL PHONES OR ELECTRONIC DEVICES in the classroom!!! Turn it off, put it away! If refused to hand in to the teacher, you will be written up!

Put the ear buds and Beats away (AND DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT CHARGING YOUR PHONE ANYWHERE IN HERE) !!!!!

MISSING WORK Every day an assignment is late, you lose 5 points! 10 points for R track & H track. At the beginning of class, place the missing work in the appropriate basket and write LATE ____ DAYS! It is your responsibility to hand in the work! Homework and class work is 50% of your grade.

IF YOU ARE ABSENT As soon as you come back to class, check the class folder. Only take the paper with your name on it. Get the work before class starts!!! SchoolWire - check it out! You have 2 days for every 1 day you are late to hand in an assignment. Do not wait until an assignment is due to ask questions! When assignment is complete, place in basket with the following ABSENT (include the date/s) so it does not get marked late.

Don’t lose points! Be prepared! This is English class, you will using a writing utensil everyday. This should not come as a shock. Find one in the beginning of class, not 30 minutes into class. Participate in class discussions and reading aloud. The correct heading must be on all papers. -2 points if not correct.

Name (first and last) Date Block HEADING (this tells me what the paper is) Ex. Persuasive Essay – Music Make sure edges of paper are smooth; either rip off or use scissors.

FOLDERS & NOTEBOOKS FOLDER #1 – name, block, and number. PERMANENT FOLDER (anything that has been graded) FOLDER #2 – name, block, and number. WORKS IN PROGRESS (worksheets, handouts, etc.) NOTEBOOKS: #1 – notes from textbook or novels #2 – WOD-SAT NB

WHEN I AM ABSENT… The same rules apply! This is not a holiday! All work is to be done independently. All work MUST be handed in at the end of class – no exceptions! All work is counted as a MAJOR GRADE!

“The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work.” -Mark Twain
