What is School Wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports? (PBIS) SW-PBIS provides structure and support for developing systems of positive and proactive school- wide and individualized intervention strategies that… – promote a positive learning environment, – create a positive culture, – teach and reinforce appropriate behaviors, – prevent problem behaviors. PBIS is a way for schools, parents, and communities to help kids learn consistent positive behavior patterns.

Unnecessary Items Cell phones are not to be used during school hours. Phones will be confiscated if used in violation of school policy. Inappropriate use in restrooms/locker rooms may result in suspension. Use of personal electronic notebooks or readers is not allowed during school hours, or on the school network. Classroom lockers do not have locks. It would be best to leave unnecessary, valuable items at home.

Optional Purchases Students are assigned a school calculator to use as allowed/needed in math and science classes. Students may want to purchase a calculator to use at home on assignments as allowed. Model used at school in grades 6 & 7: TI 30xiis Advanced placement math students may require a different calculator. Please check with that teacher. Students may also want to purchase inexpensive earbuds to keep at school for use on school computers.

Communication Beginning the first day of school, all students should bring home an assignment book, or planner. Please check it daily. Every Friday students will bring home a Friday Folder. Parent notices and graded work will be placed in this folder. Please look over the contents of the folder with your child, and sign the folder, to be returned on Monday..

Parent Visits During School Hours During regular school hours, visitors must enter the building through the front office. All visitors must provide a picture I.D. (for example, a valid driver’s license) Visitor I.D.’s will be scanned using the “Raptor” system. Visitors without a picture I.D. will not be admitted to the building, and must remain in the office area until an administrator arrives to resolve the issue.
