Cardiovascular System - Blood Vessels Lab 2

Outline Review last week’s material –turn in assignment –questions about heart anatomy Diagram arteries or veins in small groups Share diagrams with class Questions and cleanup

Review Anatomical orientation –Are your arms are superior or anterior to your legs? Layers of the heart –Which layer of the heart is composed of the primary muscle tissue and performs the work of the heart? Cardiac Chambers –Which chambers provide the forceful pumping of the heart?

Review cont. Blood vessels of the heart –Which vessels carry blood from the heart to the lungs? Valves –AV valves separate which two structures? Flow of blood through the heart –Into which chamber of the heart does blood returning from the lungs enter?

Review cont.

Mapping the Blood Vessels Each group is to map out an assigned group of arteries or veins in relation to position within the body. Use your text book pages for arteries and pages for veins. Denote where blood is coming from and where it empties. Show which vessels supply blood to which tissues and organs. Each group is responsible for their section of vessels. Once complete, please have a TA check to make sure it is right, and then draw your section of blood vessels on the board. MAKE SURE TO COPY ALL GROUPS OF ARTERIES AND VEINS, AS YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL OF THEM.

Summary Picked up homework Reviewed Lab 1 material Diagramed arteries and veins Questions? Next time - Cardiac cycle and electrical control of the heart
