Your Assignment: How do I get home? Using your maps skills and knowledge of places, describe a journey from your school to your home, with a visit to an interesting place on the way For example – A journey from your school to a museum and then back to your home.

Knowledge Bank What are compass directions? Can I give someone directions? What types of maps are there? Can I use a key to read an OS map? Can I measure distances? How do find locations on a map? Can I do four figure and six figure compass directions? What are Geographical Information Systems? Can I use ICT to find places in the UK?

Your Assignment should include: A hand drawn map to show the route with places clearly marked and a key Photographs of various places on the way (geograph.org.uk) Written directions using geographical terminology in a logical sequence Evidence of the use of GIS ( Google maps or Bing Maps ) Assessment and Knowledge Your Assignment could include: Latitude and longitude/ OS grid references Detailed directions Videos or recorded instructions
