Welcome To Deep River Elementary School Hello! My name is Booker Bookworm and I live at Deep River School. I want to introduce you to some people who are really cool! They all work together at Deep River to make your days go well, they want to make you happy – man, I think that’s swell! They each have a special job to do – special in their own way, you will probably see a few of them as you tour our school today! You can use your spy glass that you made in class today, to try and “spy” a person from our story as you walk along the way!

Mr. Moore is the principal of our school and he is really neat, his love for children and dedication to our school really can’t be beat! You may see him in the hallway or in our classroom he may peek, he is really very friendly, so to you he may speak!

Mrs. Straub is our assistant principal, she helps Mr. Moore out a lot, she tries to help the entire staff if we are ever in a spot. She handles the school buses and any problems that may arise, and if you misbehave in the classroom, she may speak to you- so don’t be surprised!

Mrs. Godwin and Mrs. Murphy are your teachers for the year, they will help you learn how to do so many things, there is nothing to fear! Reading, writing, and math are some of the subjects they will teach, the best of your abilities is what they want to reach!

The secretaries work in the office and keep our school running right, they want to keep our students safe and they try with all their might. If your parents come to get you early or want to visit in our class, they must talk to our secretaries and get themselves a hall pass.

Mrs. Schmitz is the guidance counselor at our school, she is kind and compassionate, a total and complete jewel! She will visit our class and talk to us about being a good friend, and if you have a problem, your heart she’ll try to mend!

Mr. McRae is one of the many people who keep our school clean, so if you throw trash on the floor, that would be really mean. He needs our help with keeping things straight, taking care of our classroom and lunch table would be great!

Mrs. Brown is the Music teacher, she truly loves to sing, she also has lots of instruments and bells that you can ring! Sometimes we do school plays and sing songs for parents to hear, whatever she seems to help us do, always brings good cheer!

Mrs. Daniel is the Art teacher and masterpieces you will create, everything you do in art will definitely be first rate! Crayons, paint, scissors, and glue- these tools will assist you in everything that you do!

The library is a very special place to go, Mrs. Martin and Mrs. Spivey have lots of books to show. They will read stories for our class to hear, And they’ll let us begin to check out books early in the year. (This is Booker Bookworm’s favorite place in the school! Can you guess why!)

Mrs. Bradley is the P.E. teacher and games she likes to play, you will visit her on your scheduled resource day. She wants you to be healthy and she’ll teach lessons to help you know, what exercises to do and foods to eat that will help you grow.

What is a CPU, keyboard, monitor, and mouse? Have no fear!!!! Mrs. McIver is in the computer lab and you’ll know the answers by the end of the year! She will teach you how to use a computer correctly and games you will play, I know that you will have a lot of fun on your computer day!

Mrs. Gierbolina is one of the ESL teachers that you may see, if you speak Spanish, in her class you may be! She will help you learn English and then two languages you will speak, everyone around you will think that is pretty neat!!!

Well, that’s about it, there’s not much more to say, I sure hope that you see some of these people that I introduced to you today! I have seen many children come by van, bus, and car, but you guys are the best looking class I’ve seen by far! I hope you have a great year at Deep River School, and remember, Booker Bookworm thinks you are really cool!
