Non – critical or constructive criticism Positive reinforcement Enthusiasm Consistent message Rubery FC Respect – Don’t argue with refs Support the kids Educate parents kids and coaches To be respectful at all times Proactive planned curriculum rather than reactive to games on a weekend Football Coaching 70% ball rolling time Game realistic sessions No lines / queues Often – pull out individuals to coach improvements – rarely – stop the entire group from playing 1 ball drill for every player 50% of the training session is game time with stoppages to praise or educate STEP Principle Maximise Playing time in training and warm ups Fitness training ? Coaching points last no longer than 30 seconds Fun Coaches don’t take part (safety) / only in goal if really necessary 50% of the training session is game time with stoppages to praise or educate
