Pillowcase FACS 7

Step 1 Using a yard stick, measure/draw the body & cuff. Body: 20” by 25” Cuff: 20” by 10” Label: fold, selvage edge, top, & bottom Put your first/last name and hour/day on both the body and cuff.

Step 2 Fold Selvage edge Fold Fold selvage edge to selvage edge and pin every 4-5 inches Pin paper pattern on fabric lining up the fold side to the fold of the fabric first then pin the rest of the corners and in between. Pins should be inside the tracing line.

Step 2 Cut fabric using fabric scissors following your tracing line.

Put right sides of body & cuff together. Line up the edges and pin with beaded side sticking out. PIN Step 3

Step 4 Sew cuff to the body with a straight stitch (01), following the number 15 on the throat plate (make sure you see the 5 not the 1).

Step 5 Set machine to zigzag (07 or 08). Make sure the left edge of the presser foot is next to the straight stitch. Trim threads next to fabric.

Step 6 Trim next to zigzag stitch. Iron seam towards the cuff. Iron towards cuff

Step 7 Using a hem gauge, fold 1/2” to the inside/wrong side and iron flat. Then pin every few inches at a 90 degree angle.

Step 7 Fold the ½” pressed cuff fabric 1/8” past the stitching line. Pin through all layers.

Step 8 Sew on the right side of the cuff. Line the left edge of the presser foot with the folded edge of the cuff. Take pins out as you go and make sure you are going through all 3 layers! Sew slow!

Step 9 Put right sides together and match cuff/body seam. Put one pin at the seam first. Then start pinning from the top of the cuff all the way to the bottom of the body. Then pin the bottom of the body. Pin every few inches. Match seam first! Pin bottom Pin side

Step 10 Straight stitch the side and bottom following the 15 or 5/8”. Make sure you see the 5 not the 1. Pivot at the corner. Zigzag following the 10. Trim threads and cut fabric next to zigzag. Iron side seam to one side. Leave wrong side out to be graded.
