The Interlopers How do readers analyze how a specific point of view contributes to the theme or message in a story? How do readers analyze character motivation? How does it advance the theme and plot? How does an author’s style contribute to the theme or message? How do speakers participate effectively in collaborative discussion?

Directions Look at political cartoon What is happening in the picture? What is the cartoon about? How do you know?

Interloper a person who becomes involved in a place or situation where they are not wanted or are considered not to belong.

Point of View First Person – Narrator is the character in the story (I, we) Third Person Limited – story is being told by an outside observer (he, she, they) Third Person Omniscient – narrator does not participate in the action of the story. Thoughts of every character is open. All knowing.
