Foreshortening DRAWING TO SHOW DEPTH

verb (used with object) 1. Fine Arts. to reduce or distort (parts of a represented object that are not parallel to the picture plane) in order to convey the illusion of three-dimensional space as perceived by the human eye: often done according to the rules of perspective.

Your Assignment  Goals  Demonstrate accurate drawing and shading skills with pencil  Show and understanding of good composition  Show good craftsmanship  Complete a picture that very closely resembles the image you are working from

Procedure 1. Take Five different photos using good composition, that show foreshortening, and hopefully and action or emotion. You can/should use prop in some of them. 2. Bring in a printed, black and white copy of each of the photos. They should be the full size of a printer paper. 3. Choose the best image with Ms. Grandinetti’s help. 4. Draw a grid on that image and then draw a matching grid on your good paper. 5. Draw your image on your good paper. 6. Complete a shading practice worksheet – Directions on Worksheet 7. Begin shading your drawing. 8. Complete your drawing and fill out rubric questions. 9. Marvel at your work
