KAT MYERS Introduction…..

WHO AM I?  My name is Kat Myers. I’m from and currently living in Chicago. I have my BFA in Musical Theatre from Western Illinois University which allowed me to work in children’s theatre for three years. While acting, I taught theatre school and I’ve been thinking of pursuing an education degree since. I currently Nanny the cutest 16 month old on the face of the earth. This is us. 

MY INTERESTS  Let’s see….I love to eat. I’m on an avocado kick right now. I think I’ve eaten guacamole everyday for at least three days straight. I like tap dancing, craft beer (particularly of the wheat or pumpkin variety), singing and scrapbooking. I’m currently playing Gayle in a production of Almost, Maine.

SCHOOLING  I attended a Chicago Public School and then an all-girl Catholic HS. The transition was academically jarring to say the least. I was always a good test taker when I was younger so I got placed in Honors Advanced Algebra freshman year and had to take a “make sure” placement test that was completely fill in blank before my first day of class. When I got there, I looked over the test and gave it back to the administrator and walked out – having never seen any of the information before. I was still placed in Honors and barely got a C. That pretty much solidified my right- brained-ness and as soon as I was able to stop taking math I did!

FUTURE  At some point I would love to be the director of a daycare center.  Why a masters? Having no formal education schooling I needed to start somewhere, going for my masters seemed like the best option because I get teaching and also administration classes in Early Childhood Education through Ashford.
