Presentation transcript:

Russia has very specific and complicated history. This presentation shortly describes the main periods and events of Russian history.

According to many different sources the ancient tribes lived on the territory of modern Russia since 1,5 - 3 millions years ago. There were only native peoples that time. In the fifth century BC first Slavic tribes came there from the territories of modern Poland and Ukraine.

In the ninth century AD Ancient Russian State - Kievan Rus’ - was formed. It was situated in east Europe to the north from Black sea. It was very developed, even more than the countries of west Europe.

Everything has changed in 1223 with the Mongol Invasion. Russian state was released again only in Tataro-Mongol Yoke has seriously slowed development of Russia.

After the integration of many separated parts of Russian state the generation of he Tsar's autocratic powers started. Ivan IV the Terrible was the first Russian Tsar. (1547–1584) In February, 1613, the Romanov dynasty started to rule Russia.

Peter the Great (1672–1725) brought autocracy into Russia and played a major role in bringing his country into the European state system. So in 1721 Russia became an Empire. Russian Empire had an important place in world politic.

In the end of XIX century the revolution movement became very intensive. In 1917 Russian Revolution happened. After Civil War of the Soviet Union was formed.

During Soviet period much progress in industry, science and technology was made. Soviet Union was victorious in World War II, the war resulted in around 26–27 million Soviet deaths (estimates vary) and had devastated the Soviet economy in the struggle.

Breakup of the Union has happened because of many problems with economical and political structures. Russia has become a presidential republic with market economy.
