The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet A play by William Shakespeare

Who am I? I am Juliet’s pugnacious cousin. I hate peace and all Montagues. I challenge Romeo to a dual. I kill Mercutio, and Romeo kills me.

I AM TYBALT CAPULET.

Who am I? I am an expert in plants. Some say that I should have listened to my own advice: Those who act in haste risk danger. I have good intentions and desire an end to the family feud. I try to make Juliet leave the sepulcher, but I leave her once she refuses.

I AM FRIAR LAURENCE.

Who am I? I am Juliet’s trusted confidante until Romeo is banished. I advise Juliet to marry Paris and forget Romeo once he has been banished. I am a comedic character. I love Juliet like a daughter.

I AM THE NURSE.

Who am I? I enter the play in a pensive and morose mood because Rosaline isn’t paying attention to me. I fall in love with Juliet at first sight. I try to refuse Tybalt’s dual. My best friend dies under my arm. I complicate the play when I kill Tybalt. I am banished to Mantua. Some say I mature by the end because I allow Paris’s body to be placed next to Juliet’s in the sepulcher.

I AM ROMEO

Who am I? I start the play and seem like a reasonable man.. I initially tell Paris Juliet is too young to get married. When Juliet refuses to marry Paris, I deliver an angry tirade and threaten to disown Juliet when she later refuses to marry Paris. Some think I want to rush the marriage between Juliet and Paris to repair my family’s relationship with the Prince.

I AM LORD CAPULET

Who am I? I start the play naïve and obedient. I fall in love with Romeo at first sight. Many consider me more mature, more practical than Romeo. I experience a wide range of emotions when I learn Romeo has killedTybalt, but I choose Romeo over my family. I think very carefully about what might happen if I take the vial of poison Friar has given me, but I risk everything for Romeo.
