Presentation transcript:

Introduction Body image refers to how people perceive their own body appearances Learning your body image may affect your self-esteem and general behavior Some people are normally dissatisfied with their body appearance while some are not Dissatisfaction with body image may make an individual change eating habits This research paper seeks to find out whether there is a significant relationship between diet and learning body image.

Literature Review According to Cash & Fleming (2002), most of the standards of beauty in the society have negative impact on children Those who don’t feel beautiful re likely to change habits Eating disorder is one of the most common chronic illness among adolescents in America (Rodgers & Melioli, 2015) O'Dea & Maloney (2000) posits that girls are more likely to be dissatisfied with their body image than boys According to Levine & Piran (2004), environment determines whether an individual will be dissatisfied with his or her body image An individual may change diet to lose weight due to stigmatization in school

Objectives This research is very important to the field of scientific research and other scholars The main purpose of the study is to find the relationship between the eating habits and the body image After the study, I expect to know the effects that learning body image would have on the eating habits or diets of an individual The research seeks to establish the relationship between eating disorders and knowledge of body image among the young people The research will use different methods to collet and analyze data

Research Methods The research will use different subjects as sample to conduct the study The sample to be used will be made up of 50 girls and 50 boys to make it a total of 100 subjects The study will use individuals whose ages range from 8 to 18 The subjects to be used for the research are expected to be students due to the age bracket The subjects will, therefore, have no skills in matters of nutrition The subjects will be sampled randomly without considering their health status

Variables Independent variable in the research will be learning the body image Dependent variable will the eating habits of the subjects Interviewing the respondents is one of the methods that will be used to find out their perceptions about their body images The respondents will be given questionnaires to answer questions about their eating habits and the reasons for their kinds of diet Those who are overweight will be observed to find out their eating habits They will also be asked what they think about their bodies and what other people think of them

Procedures The data to be used in the research will be collected though interviews, questionnaires and observation The research is designed to run for two months to allow collection of adequate data Questionnaires will be used to ask the children questions that are vey personal to avoid exposing them to humiliation Observations and interviews ill be used when collecting information that the children are comfortable with Throughout the research, no experiments shall be conducted on the subjects The research is designed to compare the groups to find the relationships rather than measuring

Importance of the Research The main objective of the study is to find out the relationship between diet and learning body image The study will enable people to know why some individuals have eating disorders while others do not have. It is very important to know the relationship since the knowledge may be used to help those with eating disorders Most researchers have not presented incontrovertible evidence on the relationship between diet and body image Therefore, the research is aimed at finding adequate evidence to prove that knowing your body image may change your eating habits Furthermore, the findings of the research will help the future researchers with basic information and proven facts to help them continue with research in the field
