Dysclan ESTABLISH DECEMBER 1996

Katena Intro  I have always been a teacher of some form. I have always love children. I am a military wife, mother of 6 boys and student. I just gradated with my Bachelors of Science in Early Education with Administration. We are currently stationed in Fort Lewis Washington. It does rain a lot but we have been here three years and are looking forward to going back to the East Coast. I am currently obtaining my Master in Education with a specialty Family and Community Relations.

Small Town Girl I grew up in a small town in Crawford Alabama one traffic light. It has grown a lot over the last twenty years I had never went further than Florida or Georgia. I married my husband and left; never looked back we have been stationed East/West and every where in between. I was in several schools during my childhood and never became settled until 2 nd grade. The teacher that impacted me the most in elementary was Mrs. Chappell I was having trouble with math and she was a great teacher. In my high school years it was Mrs. E. Howard she was a great social studies teacher. I have always worked in education from playing teacher as a child, from owning my own preschool/daycare out of my home and working in various childcare centers. It hit me once I had my 4 th son who is autistic and it taught me so much. That all children are a gift and every child learns differently. I don’t want a parent ever to hear that her child will never learn beyond a certain age. I decided right then and there that I wanted to be a an advocate for special need children. I quit my job and dedicated the next few years to him. I am proud to say he is 9 years old and in a 2 nd grade mainstream classroom. He does have some social and verbal issues; but is super smart and a joy for the most part to be around.

Future Goals  I want to work in an elementary school and be an advocate for special need children and families. I believe that all children have the capacity to learn regardless of their ability.
