Research and evidence aims  Respond to the changing face of NHS policy and practice (e.g. LINks)  Embed relevant policy and practice within all our work  Identify and develop evidence that informs and supports good PPI practice  Dissemination  Work in inclusive ways to enable this to happen

How we achieve our research aims Four main themes Theme 1 Creating a research & evidence base culture  This is an overarching theme and helps to create an environment that supports and stimulates research and evidence for PPI  Ensuring we have appropriate infrastructure and appropriate ways of working

How we achieve our aims Theme 2 Evidence/Knowledge for PPI  This theme is about building a strong evidence base for PPI e.g.  evidence around impact of involvement, measuring involvement, principles for involvement

How we achieve our aims Theme 3 Evidence into practice  This theme is about the process of how people learn about PPI and how evidence is disseminated and used in practice e.g.  the mapping of learning for PPI  attitudes of key health workers to PPI, the barriers and enablers and career pathways of users within PPI

How we achieve our aims Theme 4 Understanding the broader context around PPI  This theme is about understanding the state of PPI, the context in which PPI operates, the organisational and professional cultures.  National surveys of PPI  PPI in commissioning  Nurses perspectives of PPI

 Working with other domains in the NCI  Developing infrastructure  Generating evidence for good practice  Contributing to the national PPI agenda Some achievements to-date
