To rationalize the existing spaces in touch with the new port needs. Main problems/challenges of Naples municipality: To take the opportunities provided by the strongly growing cruise traffic for the economic, social and environmental development of the city areas, actually deprived, of the waterfront through: - sustainable projects and initiatives to face the new needs of cruise tourism and at the same time representing new poles of attraction/ aggregation centres for the inhabitants; - a better utilization of the monumental and historical heritage of the port, of the city-port interface and of dismissed former port industrial areas. To improve the governance of urban/port transformation projects for a real coordination of all different stakeholders involved in a shared management of the projects and of the objectives. To balance the relation of the city with the waterfront through the elimination of the existing physical obstacles. To rationalize the existing spaces in touch with the new port needs.
