Welcome

How will my child learn? playing and exploring, being active, creative and critical thinking : The Early Years Curriculum We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework.

Discovery Time Playing and Exploring (child initiated learning) Finding out and exploring Playing with what they know Being willing to ‘have a go’

Observation: Being Active Indoors and Outside Being involved and concentrating Keeping trying Enjoying achieving what they set out to do

Observation: Problem Solving Having their own ideas Making links Choosing ways to do things

As children grow, the prime areas will help them to develop skills in 4 specific areas. Literacy Mathematics Understanding the world Expressive arts and design What will my child be learning? There are 7 areas of learning The 3 prime areas they develop first are:- Communication and Language Physical development Personal, social and emotional development

Tapestry Progress: We are assessing children all the time in each area of learning.. We use these assessments to plan your child’s learning. Each child has an online ‘Learning Journey’ which is individual to them and records their progress and achievements against the age appropriate statements. There are Parent Consultations every term. We discuss progress and your child’s Next Steps in learning. Home Learning to support your child at home. We have a variety of parent workshops planned over the next term. Please ask if you have any concerns – don’t wait for a Parent Consultation!

Observation: Praise and Self Esteem This is so important for your child’s self esteem and progress. We give verbal praise all the time and often reward with stickers and stampers.

Our Learning Values Thinking Independence Interdependence Creativity Emotional Intelligence Spirituality

We encourage and celebrate these values in school. We aim for the children to develop into well adjusted individuals. Forest Values Friendship We work together and help each other Openness I open my heart and mind to people and ideas that are different Responsibility It’s up to me to do the right thing Endurance I try hard to do and be the best I can Stewardship We look after each other and our world Trust We rely on each other to make good choices
