Background Sanitation coverage of area in the Sindh  Currently, in Sindh about 49% households have access to safe excreta disposal facilities, 92% and 19% coverage in urban and rural Sindh respectively. Source : Sindh Sanitation Strategy

Update on Provincial Sanitation Strategy/ Plans  Sindh Sanitation Strategy have been drafted and under consideration and comments from all the stakeholder and Government line Departments.

IYS Targets and Achievements  Provincial IYS plan prepared.  Launching of the Event.  Provincial Sanitation Strategy Development.  Mother and Child Health Week / Sanitation Week.  Provision of Adequate Sanitation facilities.  Advocacy and Knowledge Management.  Global Hand Washing Day Celebration.

Major On-going Sanitation related Initiatives According to PHE Department, Sindh. The on-going Sanitation Schemes are 14 (ADP ) in 11 Districts. *Jamshoro, *Badin, *Karachi, *Mirpurkhas, *Sanghar, *Hyderabad, *Larkana, *N. Feroze, *Shikarpur, *Tando Allah Yar, *Jacobabad,

Institutional Arrangement for Sanitation Programmes  Execution Side. Talka Municipal Administration. Union Council.  Construction Side. XEN (PHED)

Monitoring and coordination mechanism with different stakeholders including NGOs  WASH Sectoral Coordination Meeting (LGD, Sindh). The meeting reviewed the issues of WASH at provincial level. Govt. Department representative, NGO’s, Donor Agencies and other stakeholders are participated in the meeting. This meeting held on quarterly basis under Local Government Department, Sindh.
