IT’S IMPORTANT TO HAVE AN AGENDA AGENDA BOOKS Take them with you everywhere in school. Use them, don’t destroy them: If lost check to see if it has been turned into the main office. WHAT IS ENCOR, ANYWAY? ENCOR IS A TIME WHEN YOU CAN GO TO TEACHERS TO GET HELP WITH CLASS WORK. Use this time wisely, don’t let yourself get behind in any class. Hard to catch up. EnCor Stamps: You must report to your EnCor teacher first & then to where your book has been stamped. STUDENT ASKS, “YOU MEAN, I HAVE TO BE HERE?” ATTENDANCE is covered in the handbook on pages 9, 10 and 11. If you are absent or late to school: Please have your parents/guardians call or the attendance office promptly to verify your absences. If you are absent with no excuse, the attendance office will send a message. Parents will need to call with absence verification within 24 hours. Without a medical note, adminstrative excuse or a parent call, you will receive a four-hour detention. Parents may NOT excuse the detention after it has been assigned. STUDENT USES ILLNESS TO GET OUT OF SCHOOL If you accumulate six absences during a term, a NC (no Credit) will go on your transcript. A doctor’s note is needed for any absence after five per term to receive credit for the class. If you miss because of Doctor’s appointment, bring a note back from your doctor and give it to the attendance office. If you plan to be gone for several days for another reason, you must do the following: Pick up an Administrative Excuse form from the Attendance office Teachers, parents, and administration will need to sign this form. STUDENT ASKS, “WHAT IF I OVERSLEEP?” Check in through the office if you arrive after 7:40am to get a pass to class. Failure to check in or out will result in a 4 hour detention. “YOU SNOOZE YOU LOSE”, SAYS PRINCIPAL TARDY POLICY is covered on pages 10 and 11 in the student handbook. School Starts at 7:40am There are six minutes between classes. Tardies carry through the entire school year. They do not start over at the start of each term. Parents may excuse their student for being late for first block three times with no consequence. STUDENT SAYS ABOUT HER CLOTHING, “I’M SO FANCY” Headwear, including hats, scarves, bandanas, and hoods are not to be worn except on special days as approved by the administration. Any item that advocates or advertises tobacco, alcoholic beverages, drugs, illegal substance, violence, racist organization/symbols, gangs, obscenities, nudity, or have questionable double meanings are not allowed. Dress code is also enforced at athletic / activity events THE MHS NEWS THE WORLD’S FAVOURITE NEWSPAPER - Since 1913 DRESS CODE Guidelines for proper attire on page 20 of your handbook. Pants, capris, shorts, and skirts must be worn properly and not sag. Skirts or short length must extend to the fingertips Shirts should be modest and appropriate for school. Straps must cover undergarments and midriff. Halter tops are NOT allowed. Shoes must be worn at all times

DON’T CELL YOURSELF OUT CELL PHONE POLICY Are permitted in the hallways during student passing periods and in the commons during the student’s lunch period. It will be considered a violation, if the student’s cell phone or communication device disrupts a class. Using your phone/device is not an excuse to be tardy. If the administration has reasonable suspicion that illegal activity is being conducted via the cell phone/communication device, then the administration may search the contents of the phone/device. Cell phones are not to be used in the locker rooms or restrooms at any time. The use of an electronic device to video nonacademic, activity, or athletic events at school is prohibited. If you phone/communication device disrupts class, or if you are found in violation of the policy, your phone/device will be confiscated and ONLY returned to a parent or guardian. Disciplinary action will be taken by the administration. THE MHS NEWS THE WORLD’S FAVOURITE NEWSPAPER - Since 1913

Students receiving detentions will be given approximately one week to serve their time. Detention Times: Monday, Tuesday, & Thursday from 3:00 – 5:00pm Friday 3:00 – 3:30pm Saturday 8am -12:00pm Detention will not be held on Wednesdays If a student is late for detention, he/she will not be admitted THE MHS NEWS THE WORLD’S FAVOURITE NEWSPAPER - Since 1913 Should a student be removed from detention by the supervisor, the time served will NOT be credited. Passes to lockers will NOT be given. Bring all materials to detention. Failure to serve detention by the specified deadline will result in disciplinary action. Not serving detention served will result in Out of School Suspension Two hours detention or less will equal a one day suspension More than two hours will equal a two day suspension STUDY SHOWS DETENTION TIME NOT AS FUN AS IT LOOKS ON THE BREAKFAST CLUB

BULLYING GETS THE BEAT DOWN Harassment/Bullying is covered in the handbook on pages 14, 15 and 16 There is zero tolerance with Harassment & Bullying. If you feel you are being harassed in person or through social media, let a teacher and administration know. There is an online report for bullying as well. JUST SAY KNOW MEDICATION All prescription medications, except inhalers, epipens, and diabetic supplies, must be transported to the school health office staff by the parent/guardian. If diabetic, make sure you have informed the nurse of medical needs while here at school. If you are found with any type of medication, (either over the counter or prescription) on you this will be a violation of the drug policy. MESSINESS NOT ON THE MENU Lunchroom Procedure You have to have your Agenda Book or ID. WE DO NOT have an open lunch. Please pick up after yourself at lunch and tuck in your chairs as you leave. Put your tray away by bringing to the kitchen window to the left of the lunch line area. If you are seen by staff or cameras leaving trash in the lunchroom, you could be assigned clean up in the lunch room during your lunch. THE MHS NEWS THE WORLD’S FAVOURITE NEWSPAPER - Since 1913

STUDY PROVES BAD BEHAVIOR NOT CONDUCIVE TO LEARNING BEHAVIOR/CONDUCT is covered in pages 12, 13, and 14 of your handbook. SOCIAL MEDIA- sending or receiving inappropriate photos by any type of social media will be dealt with by USD 266 police and Administration. Use of any type of tobacco product at school will get you OSS.
